Bristol goes to the polls again in May. But this isn’t your average local elections where different parties battle it out on buses, budgets and bins. This time, we’re voting on whether we should scrap the mayor, just 10 years after we decided we wanted one.

Debates about local democracy, scrutiny of big decisions and the role of councillors have been raging in small pockets of the city. But at the same time, lots of people aren’t engaged or don’t even know why we’re bothering with this referendum at all.
